Flowers for Weddings/Funerals/Special events
Firstly it feels important to make new customers aware that the Lychgate Cutting Garden is a ‘separate section’ of Hill House Nursery and that Laura, who manages the garden, also works elsewhere on site certain days of the week. Therefore we would appreciate customers doing their initial research on the Lychgate website and then either coming to the Nursery 11-5pm or calling/emailing her in person please.
When you do see Laura she will discuss your requirements with you and diarise your event. Flower quantities need to be considered and estimated - and will vary depending on the size of the venue, number of arrangements, containers being used for table decorations etc. We advise picking your flowers two days prior to your special day, to allow them to rest and recover before arranging. If for any reason your plans change, could you please also notify Laura. Thank you.
We would like to highlight our flower availability ‘month by month’ section on this website to help you envisage, prior to coming, a selection of the varieties we aim to grow each season. Please understand that this may vary slightly and that our growing of course is dependent on weather conditions at any one time, but it will give you some idea of what to expect when you come to the garden.
When you pick -
Confirm with Laura the date and time you are coming please.
We will supply large buckets of water and snips for you and your helpers. The buckets provided are our measuring system for pricing. (Prices are on the contact and info page).
It does take a while to choose and pick so please allow plenty of time in the garden.
The flowers once picked need to be kept cool, in water and out of direct sunlight for best results.
We are unable to guarantee or reserve any specific flowers. However, generally the garden, we are very pleased to say, provides a good, varied and unusual selection of grasses, foliage and flowers suitable for any celebration, throughout the growing season.
We wish you well with all that you are organising and our aim is always to help as best we can.
